Get IT support in Egham, Staines and the Surrey Heathrow corridor
For TW20 business park tenants, Heathrow-adjacent operations, and firms that outgrew whoever set up the first server.
What our distance from Egham means
Egham is about 40 minutes from our Covent Garden office, so we are a London firm covering Surrey rather than a Surrey firm.
That matters less than it sounds. Helpdesk, monitoring, patching, Microsoft 365 administration, security operations, backup and recovery are all delivered remotely and are identical whether you are in TW20 or WC2. What distance genuinely affects is physical attendance — replacing failed hardware, cabling, an office move.
So the useful test is your ratio. If you have a normal office of laptops and cloud services, remote-first support works well and you gain from London-grade security practice. If you have a warehouse, a factory floor, or no technical presence at all and need someone through the door regularly, a local Staines or Woking provider is the better answer. We work that out with you at assessment, so what you arrange matches the way your site actually runs.
The Egham and Staines business pattern
The M25 Junction 13 corridor is business-park territory: Causeway, Thorpe Park and the serviced offices around Staines town centre, plus a Heathrow-driven cluster of logistics, travel, aviation services and freight.
Royal Holloway’s presence adds a research and spin-out layer, and the area has a steady population of 10-60 person firms that grew out of a founder’s original IT arrangement without ever formally replacing it.
Business park connectivity around Egham
Tenants in shared buildings inherit the landlord’s network decisions. The practical consequences:
- Contended bandwidth. The advertised speed is shared with every other tenant, and it is at its worst at 09:30 and 14:00.
- No control of the edge. You cannot configure a router you do not own, which limits VPN, firewall and segmentation options.
- Static IP scarcity. Fine until you need one for a VPN endpoint or a whitelisted service.
- Lease-length lock-in. Whatever you accept at fit-out is typically what you live with.
Where the lease allows, a dedicated leased line or FTTP circuit solves this outright. Where it does not, SD-WAN across the shared connection with a 5G failover gives you resilience and traffic control without owning the building’s infrastructure.
Growing past your original IT setup
The most common engagement we take on in Surrey is a business that has genuinely outgrown its first IT arrangement. Typical findings:
- One person holds every administrative password, and no documentation exists.
- Backups run, but nobody has ever attempted a restore.
- Everyone is a local administrator because it was easier during setup.
- Multi-factor authentication is on some accounts and not others.
- The server is out of warranty and sits under a desk.
None of that reflects badly on whoever built it — it reflects a setup designed for eight people now carrying thirty. The fix is usually cloud migration, proper backup and disaster recovery, and identity tightened up before anything else, followed by Cyber Essentials if customers are asking.
TW and KT postcodes we cover
Egham, Staines-upon-Thames, Englefield Green, Virginia Water, Thorpe and Chertsey, plus the Heathrow perimeter and across to Windsor. London-based clients are covered from the same contract — see managed IT support.

Why choose Nerdster
Business park network rules
Shared landlord connectivity, managed building networks and comms rooms you do not control. Designing around that is different from fitting out your own premises, and getting it wrong caps your bandwidth for the length of the lease.
When the setup stops scaling
Many Surrey firms are supported by whoever built the original setup years ago. It works until headcount, compliance or a cyber insurance renewal exposes what was never designed to scale.
Cover that follows flight schedules, not office hours
Shift patterns, out-of-hours dependency, staff who travel constantly and devices that cross borders. Standard nine-to-five support does not fit businesses whose operations follow flight schedules.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Are you based in Surrey?
No. Our office is in Covent Garden, London, and Egham is roughly 40 minutes by train from Waterloo. Remote support — which is most support — is unaffected by that. On-site visits are scheduled rather than same-hour, so if your requirement is genuinely on-site-heavy we will work that out with you at assessment, and we may point you towards a Staines or Woking-based firm instead.
Which areas do you cover around Egham?
Egham, Staines-upon-Thames, Englefield Green, Virginia Water, Thorpe and Chertsey, extending to the Heathrow perimeter and across the river to Windsor. TW20, TW18, TW19 and KT16 postcodes.
We are in a business park with landlord-provided internet. Is that a problem?
It is a constraint rather than a problem, but it needs planning. Shared building connectivity often has contention, limited static IP options and no control over the router. We usually recommend a dedicated line where the lease permits, or design around the shared connection with SD-WAN and a failover 5G link if it does not.
Our IT is handled by the person who originally set it up. When is it time to change?
The usual triggers are headcount past about fifteen, a cyber insurance renewal asking questions nobody can answer, a customer demanding Cyber Essentials, or a single point of failure becoming obvious — typically one person who holds all the passwords. None of those are criticisms of the original setup. They are the point at which it stops scaling.
Can you support staff who travel internationally?
Yes. Device encryption, conditional access rules by location, secure remote connectivity and clear guidance on border device handling. For Heathrow-corridor businesses this is routine rather than exotic.
