An Honest Note on Distance

That matters less than it sounds. Helpdesk, monitoring, patching, Microsoft 365 administration, security operations, backup and recovery are all delivered remotely and are identical whether you are in TW20 or WC2. What distance genuinely affects is physical attendance — replacing failed hardware, cabling, an office move.

So the honest test is your ratio. If you have a normal office of laptops and cloud services, remote-first support works well and you gain from London-grade security practice. If you have a warehouse, a factory floor, or no technical presence at all and need someone through the door regularly, a local Staines or Woking provider is the better answer. We would rather say that at assessment than take the contract and disappoint you.

What Egham and Staines Businesses Look Like

Growing Past the Original Setup

The most common engagement we take on in Surrey is a business that has genuinely outgrown its first IT arrangement. Typical findings:

• One person holds every administrative password, and no documentation exists.
• Backups run, but nobody has ever attempted a restore.
• Everyone is a local administrator because it was easier during setup.
• Multi-factor authentication is on some accounts and not others.
• The server is out of warranty and sits under a desk.

None of that reflects badly on whoever built it — it reflects a setup designed for eight people now carrying thirty. The fix is usually cloud migration, proper backup and disaster recovery, and identity tightened up before anything else, followed by Cyber Essentials if customers are asking.
